University of Benin Centre for Distance Learning has the vision to be a leader among institutions providing alternative mode of learning. Our mission is to make education available to all, leveraging on technology to provide opportunities for everyone including those who would ordinarily have been geographically disadvantaged or constrained by work or family to achieve their ambition of higher education by providing alternative mode of quality education that is competitively affordable.


Mode of Learning


The centre provides an online learning environment from where learning materials are accessed. These materials include electronic books (e-books), audio/ video recordings; and interactive practical exercises. The course materials are available for download to all registered students of the centre. Registered students, through the virtual learning environment or platform called the Learning Management Systems (LMS), can interact with course tutors, fellow distance learning students and the Centre’s support staff.

Tutorial support is provided mainly through electronic means: our virtual learning environment, emails and telephone and chats rooms.

All students also have equal opportunity to access the resources of University’s on-site library, and the digital library. The resources of the digital library could be accessed online.
